Our school has a wonderful library that is available to all members of the school community. Everyone can feel welcome here, linger, relax, research, browse or simply enjoy a good book. The library was opened in summer 2018. There are now almost 5,000 items in the collection. There are books to look up, books to love, books to promote reading for all age groups and all reading levels, classics, magazines, audio books and DVDs.
We are also pleased to be able to offer interested parents a lending service. We are currently expanding our stock of Montessori literature of interest to parents, and look forward to offering all parents the opportunity to engage with these wonderful books in the new year. During Advent, the school community donates an Advent calendar to the library. It is filled with 24 new books. Beautifully packaged and beautifully designed, the inventoried books are waiting in the "calendar" and can be borrowed directly by the "door openers" or placed on the appropriate shelf. All pupils in years 1-6 can apply to be a door opener. A lottery decides who gets to open the doors.
Twice a year, all members of the school community have the opportunity to become book sponsors and thus expand the school library's collection: The school library team has a book stall at the parents' café at school enrolment, and at the Advent bazaar. Here you will find lovingly selected books that you can look at, buy, dedicate on the spot and then hand over to the school library.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the team at the Nimmerland children's bookshop. Almost all the books in our school library have first passed through the head, then through the heart, and finally through the hands of the bookshop team. With their inexhaustible knowledge, commitment and creativity, they have gotten to know our special way of learning, and always have wonderful suggestions on the most interesting topics.
